Packing, Materials and Unpacking
Full Packing
The team can pack agreed household or office contents. Boxes are labelled by room and contents. Fragile cartons are marked for loading and unloading.
Full packing may include kitchen contents, books, clothing, ornaments, pictures, office items and other agreed belongings.
Fragile Item Packing
Customers who pack most of their own belongings can request help with glassware, crockery, mirrors, pictures, lamps, televisions, fine art and antiques.
The method depends on the item's size, shape, weight, condition and value. Tell us about high value belongings before booking so the protection and insurance conditions can be checked.
Packing Materials
Materials may include boxes, wardrobe cartons, paper, bubble wrap, tape, mattress covers, furniture covers and corner protection.
The
quotation confirms whether materials are included or charged separately.
Unpacking and Packing Debris
Unpacking may include opening agreed boxes and placing belongings in the correct rooms.
Debris removal is limited to materials listed in the quotation, such as used boxes, paper and protective wrapping. General rubbish, unwanted furniture, building waste and hazardous materials are not included unless accepted in writing.
Furniture Dismantling and Reassembly
Large furniture may need to be taken apart when it cannot pass through a doorway, stair turn or lift.
Agreed work may cover beds, bunk beds, flat pack wardrobes, tables, desks, cabinets, storage units and freestanding office furniture.
Before dismantling, the team checks the item, access and available fittings. Screws and brackets are grouped in labelled bags. Shelves and loose parts are removed, and panels may be marked to support reassembly. Furniture sections are protected before loading.
Not every item can be rebuilt safely. Weak chipboard, cracked panels, glued joints, stripped fixings, built in units and manufacturer specific systems need separate assessment.
List each item before moving day. The quotation should state whether dismantling, transport and reassembly are included.
Move Out and Move In Handyman Work
Selected handyman tasks can be added to a move or quoted separately.
Move out work may include taking televisions down from existing brackets, removing mirrors or pictures, taking down suitable curtain rails, removing stair gates, filling small fixing holes and completing agreed minor touch ups.
Move in work may include furniture assembly, television mounting, mirror and picture hanging, curtain rails, shelves, storage racks, anti tip furniture fixings and stair gates.
Wall work depends on the item, wall construction, suitable fixings and hidden pipes or cables. Landlord, freeholder or building management permission may be needed.
Fixed electrical work, gas work, pipe changes and structural alterations are not standard handyman tasks.
Completion Day and Two Stage Moves
A completion day move takes place when ownership changes and access to the new property depends on the release of keys.
Government guidance notes that keys are often handed over around lunchtime, but delays can happen when several transactions in a chain complete on the same day.
Before booking, confirm the expected timing, when the old property must be empty, who will provide updates, any waiting charges and the storage plan if access is delayed.
A two stage move is used when you must leave one property before the next is ready. Belongings are collected, stored and delivered later. The quotation may separate collection, handling, storage, insurance and redelivery.
Short Term and Long Term Storage
Storage can help when dates do not match, completion is delayed, renovation is unfinished or office premises are not ready.
Before booking, confirm:
- Minimum storage period
- How charges are calculated
- Access rules
- Handling costs
- Redelivery charges
- Insurance conditions
- Items that cannot be stored
An inventory should record the belongings placed into storage.
Specialist, International and Cleaning Services
Pianos, Fine Art and Safes
Specialist items need more information than standard furniture.
For a piano or safe, provide the type, dimensions, weight where known, floor level, stairs, door widths and access photographs. Fine art planning should consider the item's condition, size, surface, value, journey and storage needs.
The crew, vehicle and protection method are selected after the item and route have been reviewed.
International Moving
International bookings may include collection, export wrapping and coordination with another transport provider.
The quotation should explain the destination, transport method, customs responsibilities, delivery plan, insurance terms and work handled by each company.
Cleaning
End of tenancy cleaning takes place after the old property has been emptied. Move in cleaning should be completed before boxes and furniture fill the new rooms.
The quote states the rooms, surfaces, appliances, carpets, windows, materials and exclusions.
Moving Across London and the United Kingdom
Our Romford base gives access to East London, Central London and routes across the UK through the A12, A406 and M25.
London work may involve controlled parking zones, loading bays, narrow streets, shared entrances, managed lifts and long carries from the vehicle.
The Congestion Charge is currently £18 when paid on the day or in advance. It operates from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and noon to 6pm on weekends and bank holidays, apart from the stated Christmas and New Year break. Vehicles that do not meet ULEZ standards may face a £12.50 daily charge. Heavier vehicles fall under separate LEZ rules.
The quotation will state whether parking or route charges apply.
Our Removal Fleet
Elevate Removals operates:
- Two 7.5 tonne removal lorries
- Four 3.5 tonne Luton vans
- One 3.5 tonne low loader
- Two long wheelbase vans
The vehicle is matched to the inventory, access, parking and journey. A low loader reduces lifting height for suitable items. A larger lorry may suit higher volume moves where road and property access allow.
